The Sheriff's Department continues to partner and host community events for the public. Last year, Pico Rivera Station hosted their annual National Night Out where the public got a chance to meet deputies, examine equipment, see demonstrations, and learn about public safety.

 

During the week of, June 11 through 15,  the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station Special Teams , ( Pico Rivera Sheriff’s  Transient Outreach Deputy, Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Vandalism Enforcement Team, Janice Hahn West Whitter County Team, Pico Rivera County Summer Team assisted the LASD Homeless Outreach Service Team (H.O.S.T) conducted a cleanup of the San Gabriel Riverbed. The area covered from the Whittier Narrows Dam on the north to Telegraph Blvd on the south.    

 

The City of Pico Rivera Public Works, LA Flood Control and Ocean Blue (clean up contractor) conducted the cleanup. Since this operation, Pico Rivera Sheriff’s deputies have continued to monitor the riverbed.

 

Additionally, Pico Rivera Station hosted an outreach program this year called the Citizen's Academy, an eight-week program for residents offering them a better understanding and connection to the community's safety program.
