Don Chente Bar and Grill
to Begin Site Development in Pico Rivera

The City of Pico Rivera announced in June 2017 that Don Chente Bar and Grill, operated by Vicente Ortiz, will  begin preparations for a new location in the City of Pico Rivera. The Ortiz family has operated over 25 successful restaurants throughout Southern California including Don Chente Bar and Grill, El Pescador, Limon y Sal (in Ventura) and Tacos Don Chente. Ortiz believes that the Pico Rivera Village Walk entertainment center at Paramount and Whittier Boulevards will be an important location to expand their presence in Southern California.

City staff began discussions with Ortiz after receiving direction from the Economic Development Ad-hoc Committee to bring a sit-down restaurant to Village Walk, a key commercial development in the City, in order to enhance the center as a regional draw, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth. The City Council recently approved an economic development subsidy for PR Chente, Inc. with the goal of creating a modern upscale, full-service restaurant. Don Chente Bar and Grill will complement the amenities at Village Walk and improve upon the major renovations that were recently finalized at Cinepolis theaters. The project with Don Chente Bar and Grill has increased interest from additional retailers, and new retail square footage is being planned for casual restaurants that will further improve the experience for visitors to Village Walk in the near future.
